How many Bitcoins (BTC) does Satoshi Nakamoto have in total?
Satoshi Nakamoto invented Bitcoin, so it's no surprise that the mysterious figure has the largest BTC reserve in all the world — thought to be somewhere in the realm of 600,000 to 700,000 Bitcoin, according to research carried out by Bitcoin trading service BitMEX.
But what's that valued at in cold, hard USD? 31482942000$ to 36730099000$. That's right, Satoshi is believed to be sitting on an astonishing $5 billion worth of Bitcoin.
How do we know this, though? Well, BitMEX analyzed the Blockchain from when Bitcoin was first introduced back in 2009 and found that one prominent user had mined around 700,000 Bitcoin.
Unfortunately, BitMEX isn't able to say with absolute certainty that this figure is correct, stating that the evidence is far less robust than most would assume. There's also a chance that the unknown adopter may not even be Satoshi...

The community speculated that the BitMEX trail discovered actually belongs to a random person who decided to start Bitcoin mining for the sake of an experiment to accumulate coins. This user may have simply lost the private key to their wallet after disabling mining.
This would explain why the balance has remained unchanged since 2009: there is a possibility that the wallet key has since been lost, sending the fortune into the irretrievable abyss.
Or maybe these coins belong to Satoshi, who "saved" BTC for a rainy day.
All that has ever been confirmed is that Satoshi has 50 BTC (≈$2635556) that was purchased to mine the world's first Bitcoin block to launch the cryptocurrency.
What did he do it for? Without starting the mining of the first, initial block, or the so-called genesis block, the Bitcoin cryptocurrency would not have been able to start, to exist. And if we take into account the fact that he owns only 50 BTC, we can believe that they will never hit the market again, as the creator of BTC mined them to launch his project.
